Kami

Kami claims Olathe, Kansas as her home, but she has lived in Utah for the past 8 years. Really she's happy to be wherever Scott is and they are looking forward to the time when they will own their own home, wherever that may be.

Most of Kami's family died in a house fire when she was 19. Though the experience was hard and she will always miss her family, she has overcome the grief and used the experience as one of the major driving forces in her life. The kind friends and therapists she worked with have motivated her to peruse a career as a social worker. Now she works at the Intermountain Medical Center helping people through their grief and trauma.

Because of the fire she is also a big proponent of Firefighters and fire alarms. Change those batteries every SIX months!
Kami has always believed in getting an education. Including a Masters Degree in Social Work, she also has a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development.

Kami has a long list of hobbies including: sewing, baking, cake decorating, gardening, etc. She basically loves to create things. While she was just friends with Scott (before we dated) she made this couch cover for his roommate. She spend hours everyday at their house working on it. It was probably one of the major factors in getting them together.

Kami served an LDS mission in the Florida Tampa Mission. She was called to preach the gospel in Spanish and has learned the language well. She still speaks fluently and uses it often in therapy as a Social Worker. Her mission was a time of great growth for her and help to solidify her testimony in Jesus Christ.

As written by Scott:
Kami is the best person I know. I told her that a few days after I turned her down after our first date. I had blinded myself to all of her wonderful qualities because I didn't want to date my roommates ex-girlfriend. But that day, as I sat at work, and all I could do was think about her and how I couldn't actually come up with any reason not to date her. In fact I kept coming up with more and more reasons why I needed to date her and how stupid I was for turning her down.

Long story short I eventually realized I had to marry her if I wanted to be truly happy. It would be really hard to list all of the things that amaze me about her, but to unfairly sum it up I would say that she is defined and lives by her beliefs. Though she has faced a lot of adversity in her life she always turns back to her testimony in the Gospel. She loves and cares for everyone, which is one of the big reasons she became a Social Worker.

We really want a dog of our own someday.
This love of everyone shows best in her desire to care for and have children. She has wanted children of her own as long as she can remember, and when she found out she could not get pregnant, it broke her heart. As always, she did not give up. She turned towards the Gospel and the church, and we began doing everything we can to adopt.

I love Kami with all my heart, and will do anything for her.
